Playing Oblivion without mods was a real downer. After adding some mods the game became one of the best games I've ever played.
Here are my top 10 Oblivion mods that I could not live without:
- Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul
- Added a ton of depth to the game and made creatures have a base level (all creatures are no longer your level)
- BTmod
- Made the games interface PC centric instead of console centric, must have for PC players.
- Natural Environments
- Added weather, water, habitat and vegetation tweaks that enhanced the game.
- Unofficial Oblivion Patch
- Fixed many errors and bugs in the game that were never officially fixed in a patch.
- Qarl's Texture Pack III
- Huge enhanced texture package that makes the game look much better visually.
- Illumination Within
- Added lights to the external windows of most buildings to give more flavor to cities and towns.
- Supreme Magicka
- Balances magic in Oblivion (was underpowered originally, but Mighty Magick mod made magic too powerful).
- Marksman Effectiveness+
- Gives archers a fighting chance by upping the damage of bows. Archers in Oblivion without mods were notoriously bad.
- Marksman Velocity
- Gives higher level arrows more velocity so that they are easier to hit enemies. The default speed of arrows is pretty slow.
- Deadlier Sneaking
- Enhanced sneaking damage so that a stealth character could be more viable.
